Areas of Focus

Dr. Knight cares for adults across a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, attention difficulties, life transitions, and the relationship stress that often comes with them. Within that general practice, she brings particular depth to a few areas:

Substance Use and Recovery

People come to this work from very different places. Some are simply curious, noticing that their relationship with alcohol, cannabis, or another substance has shifted. Others know they are struggling and want real support toward change, recovery, or abstinence. Dr. Knight works across that whole range and meets each person where they are.

Substance use rarely develops in isolation; it takes shape in the context of a person's history, relationships, and circumstances. Care is built from a wide menu of options, which may include therapy, medication when it would help, and attention to the parts of life that medication and therapy alone don't reach, from peer support and mutual aid to involving a partner or support system when it would help.

She has particular interest in people reexamining the role substances play through a life transition, and in women navigating substance use around family planning, pregnancy, and postpartum. Throughout, the aim is to help you feel more in control and more yourself.

Families and Loved Ones

Substance use ripples through the people around someone, not just the person using. Dr. Knight works with family members and loved ones in their own right, drawing on approaches like CRAFT to support the genuine challenges of staying connected to someone without losing sight of your own needs, with room for compassion and self-kindness.

She also works with adults who grew up with substance use in the home, and who are making sense of how those early experiences continue to shape them.

Perinatal and Reproductive Mental Health

Dr. Knight supports women through the emotional shifts of pregnancy and early parenthood, including changes in mood and anxiety, the evolving sense of identity, and the larger life transition it represents. She is comfortable navigating medication questions around pregnancy and breastfeeding, and is especially focused on the wider picture: planning for the postpartum, making sense of how sleep and feeding intersect with mental wellness, and supporting women managing co-occurring conditions such as ADHD. She also brings particular expertise to substance use during this period, an area that deserves clear and non-judgmental guidance.

Consultation

Dr. Knight also offers one-time and short-term consultations for individuals or providers seeking specialist input around substance use, perinatal mental health, or related medication questions, useful when you have an existing treatment team but would benefit from focused, expert guidance.
